Did you know you can change the battery color on your iPhone? I never knew that. The battery icon on the top right corner of your iPhone indicates how much power your phone has left. It is a very small but very important indicator that should not be ignored.

But what if you don’t like the default colors the battery icon comes with? Can you change them? Can they be pink? How about orange? Well, the good news is that YES, you can change them! The bad news is that you can’t change them into every color.

Here are ALL the colors you can have on the battery icon on iPhone:

  • Green – Charging
  • Red – Dangerously low
  • Yellow – Low power mode ( when enabled )
  • White – Normal when display is dark
  • Black – Normal when display is light

The green color on your iPhone battery means that the phone is currently connected to a charger and is charging. That’s it, nothing more to it than that.

This color will only show if you enable the Low Power Mode in the settings before hand.   • Open the Settings app
  • Tap Battery

When Low Power Mode is enabled, these features will be affected:

  7. Automatic downloads will not work while in Low Power Mode

  9. Background app refresh won’t work

Your iPhone battery color should turn green when it’s connected to a charger, if it’s not, and it is still showing a white or black color, that means the phone is NOT charging and you have a problem with the charger.

  • Try and disconnect the charger from the wall outlet and making sure it is connected properly.

Using the invert colors feature on your iPhone you can actually change the color of the battery icon. Here’s how to switch to both colors:

  • Tap Control Center
  • Tap Customize Controls
  • Select Low Power Mode to add it to Control Center
  • Now go back and click Accessibility on your Settings Screen
  • Tap Display & Text Size

You get it? Because the inverted color of yellow on dark color is blue, this way you can ” trick ” your iPhone settings to show the battery icon as blue even though it’s not really an option they give you.

Bonus TIP #2 – Show battery percentage on newer iPhones without the battery widget

There’s another very simple way to see the percentage of the battery icon without adding the battery widget to the home screen.
